BEN|EN is excited to announce we have won an APWA Project of the Year Award by the Sacramento Chapter for the Natoma Alley Sewer Rehabilitation project under the Environment – Waste category! This project is owned by City of Folsom and our Vice President, Stacey Lynch was the Project Manager for the civil engineering services of this project.
A brief description of the project:
The City of Folsom required rehabilitation and relocation of sewer system facilities in an older part of the city. Due to abandonment of City alleyways, many of the sewer mains became encumbered by nearby residences and businesses, severely impacting the City’s access to regularly operate and maintain sewer facilities. This project included the rehabilitation and upsizing of one of the existing sewer mains to an 8-inch pipe, upsizing and relocation of another sewer main into current City right-of-way, and reestablishment of each of the existing sewer laterals to reconnect all private residents and business owners to the system. The team worked closely with the City to evaluate and prepare an alternatives analysis for the alignment of the sewer mains to enable better access for ongoing maintenance. One of the key components of this project included the mitigation of impacts to property owners within the project area.
Thank you to our hardworking staff for bringing this project to our community, along with Geocon and Unico Engineering.
