Streambank Stabilization Key to Bridges
This $3.6 million park improvement project included pedestrian and bicycle trails, a playground, picnic shelter, parking lots, environmental education, and fitness stations within the nine-acre area. The project is part of the City of Citrus Heights’ Creek Corridor Trail Project.
The team designed streambank stabilization for bridges and sloping for improved water flows. Project engineers studied several grading, retaining wall, and alignment options to minimize environmental impacts from a pedestrian and bicycle bridges crossing the creek. Prefabricated bridges provided cost-effective, durable, and attractive creek crossings. The team also worked with Caltrans to process encroachment permits on an expedited schedule.
