Streambank Stabilization Key to Bridges
This $3.6 million park improvement project for the Sunrise Recreation and Park District included pedestrian and bicycle trails, a playground, picnic shelter, parking lots, environmental education, and fitness stations within the nine-acre area.
The team designed streambank stabilization for bridges and sloping for improved water flows. Project engineers studied several grading, retaining wall, and alignment options to minimize environmental impacts from a pedestrian and bicycle bridges crossing the creek. Prefabricated bridges provided cost-effective, durable, and attractive creek crossings. The team also worked with Caltrans to process encroachment permits on an expedited schedule.
