Design-Build Light Rail Extension Project
BENEN prepared plans, specifications, and cost estimates for traffic signals with LRT pre-emption, a fiber optic signal interconnect system, and street lighting system for the project.
SacRT’s Green Line to the River District project was the first phase of the Green Line to the Airport light rail extension project. The project extended the light rail system approximately 1.1 miles north to Richards Boulevard and 7th Street at the Township 9 development, connecting downtown Sacramento to the River District and included two new light rail stations.
The project was constructed using the Design-Build method which required close coordination between the design team, the City of Sacramento, and Sacramento Regional Transit District throughout the design stage. The project reduced traffic congestion on I-5 which provides access to downtown from the northern part of the City.
