Grenada Pavement Restoration – 0 Phase and 1 Phase

Zero Phase

This Caltrans Capital Maintenance (CAPM) project covers 13.4 freeway miles in Siskiyou County on Interstate 5 (I-5). The 53.6 lane miles of roadway pavement rehabilitation consists of a 0.2′ grind and 0.2′ overlay of HMA of the mainline inside shoulder and traveled lanes; the mainline outside shoulder will receive a fog seal coat. At freeway interchange locations, the entrance and exit ramps will receive a 0.2′ grind and 0.2′ overlay of HMA for the entire width. The project scope includes replacement of 11 culvert end treatments, replacing three overside drains, replacing two cubic yards of rock slope protection, and placing shoulder backing along inside and outside shoulders at both mainline ramps.  Other upgrades include replacing metal beam guardrail (MBGR) with Midwest guardrail system (MGS), installation of a new changeable message sign (CMS) with a maintenance vehicle pullout (MVP), and upgrading the existing Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) system and Road Weather Information System (RWIS). The firm is leading the PA&ED phase, which includes Request for District Functional Unit studies and coordination, Environment Study Request and ESL Mapping, GAD, Utility Verification and Pothole mapping, 30% and 60% plans and estimates, Preliminary Drainage Report, Draft SWDR, Design Standard Decision Document, and Draft and Final Project Report.
