Enhanced Streetscape Encourages Redevelopment on Historic Boulevard
Bennett Engineering Services provided streetscape design along Del Paso Boulevard in the City of Sacramento to encourage redevelopment, increase bicycle and pedestrian safety, and improve traffic circulation. The half-mile project enhanced residential and commercial areas, encouraged transit-oriented development, and enabled increased bicycle and pedestrian movement in the area.
The design team improved pedestrian street crossings by adding bulb-outs to shorten crossing distance and coordinated signal timing with regional transit at light rail crossings. It also included signalization a six-way intersection; enhancement of a regional transit station, bus stops, and shelters; a lane drop; and overall enhancements to the corridor streetscape. The design team provided innovative solutions to right-of-way and utility constraints in coordination with the City of Sacramento, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, Caltrans, Sacramento Regional Transit, landowners, and utilities.
“My favorite thing about working with Bennett Engineering is the level of commitment to their work product. They take pride in their work and want to see a successful project, which is very apparent from working with them. Leo Rubio will bend over backward to find solutions for us and think outside the box.”
