Highway Receives Safety Updates and Improvements
This 1.6-mile project is located in Mendocino County on US Highway 101 within one mile of the southern end of the Willits Bypass. The project proposes a concrete median barrier (Type 60M and 60MC) to provide adequate shoulder and lane width. It will be necessary to widen a portion of the roadway and pave the existing unpaved median. Work also includes installation of guardrails, earth-retaining systems, and related drainage improvements. Additionally, this project will necessitate converting seven driveways and roadway approaches to “right-in/right-out” only movements. Driveway improvements, including widening, will be necessary to mitigate for the changes associated with this project. Construction cost is estimated to be $10.7 million. As a subconsultant, Bennett Engineering Services is providing utility coordination and utility plans, specifications, and estimate.
