Standards Development and Legislation Make Neighborhood Electric Vehicles a Reality

The Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) Transportation Plan was developed as a planning-level document for implementing safe NEV access to downtown Lincoln and other commercial areas.

Project components included funding assistance, construction cost estimates, writing new legislation (AB 2353), Caltrans coordination, and NEV circulation and route design. Lack of existing legislation and specific standards created a challenge that Bennett Engineering Services resolved by developing new standards, writing legislation, and seeing it approved through the state legislature.
