Expedited Parking Lot Features Rain Gardens

This project upgraded and expanded an existing parking lot in the City of West Sacramento. The project added 27 parking stalls, improved stormwater quality with rain gardens, upgraded the surrounding sidewalks, and added ADA-compliant ramps.

The city selected Bennett Engineering Services to provide site planning, civil engineering design, and coordination with developers for the project. The lot aids redevelopment in Washington district by providing additional parking for new businesses, particularly for the adjacent Burgers and Brew and the Bean and Barrel coffee house across the street. The lot will eventually become a paid City parking lot.

When the restaurant footprint evolved while the parking lot was in design, the team worked closely with the developer and City to update the parking lot design and construction plans quickly to avoid delays on the expedited project.
